The City of Cornelia has tentatively adopted a 2021 millage rate which will require an increase in property taxes by 8.11 percent.
All concerned citizens are invited to the Public Hearing on this tax increase to be held at City Hall Court Room, 181 Larkin Street, Cornelia, GA on Tuesday, October 5th, 2021 at 6:00 PM. Times and places of additional Public Hearings on this tax increase will be held on Tuesday, November 2nd, 2021 at 12 PM and Tuesday, November 2nd, 2021 at 6:00 PM at the City Hall Court Room, 181 Larkin Street, Cornelia, Georgia.
This tentative increase will result in a millage rate of 8.5 mills, an increase of 0.638 mils. Without this tentative tax increase, the millage rate will be no more than 7.862 mills. The proposed tax increase for a home with a fair market value of $80,000 is approximately $19.14 and the proposed tax increase for non‐homestead property with a fair market value of $200,000 is approximately $51.04.
The millage rate is the same as 2020, but due to the Inflationary Increase for properties listed inside the City Limits of Cornelia, the Rollback Computation reflects this as an increase.
