Better Hometown receives National Accreditation!

Our Better Hometown Program became accredited as a 2008 National Main Street Program.  This means that our program met the 10 performance standards and criteria required for the accredited program.  We want to thank all of the Better Hometown members, volunteers and Andrea Harper, Better Hometown Manager for all of their hard work to make this progam a success.
 
Mayor Margaret Ballard accepted the accreditation along with other successful cities.

Wall of Honor

In these days of uncertain times with war and conflicts raging, we as Americans should be thankful and proud to live in this great, free nation. Freedom is never free. Our freedom is protected daily by our brave men and women in the armed forces, just as those soldiers before them. Thousands of men and women have sacrficed their lives for our nation and our freedom during times of war and of peace.

In December 2001, the Habersham County Commissioners passed a resolution and the Habersham County Wall of Honor, Inc. was formed. A committee made up of veterans and patriots began working diligently. The late Ken Palmer was the initiator and organizer of this committee. He compiled over 5,000 names of Habersham County Veterans before his death.
